debate finally opened the door to guests today: play questions and write comments without registering — with guardrails. A quota wall came first: ten plays and two comments per question, ten comments a day; beyond that, a quiet registration suggestion appears — no nagging, but no freeloading forever. The edges got sanded one by one: a guest's stance on a poll is kept without claiming a debater seat; the play-teaser hook no longer leaks into public charts; chart votes and PK matches — the recorded, competitive stuff — still require sign-in. OAuth users come back to their half-written drafts instead of finding them gone. The closer was a full HTTP-level e2e: complete journey, permission matrix, quota wall, one-time rate-limit tickets, account-claim merging — 38 assertions all green, and test data physically deleted by exact id, not a single dummy left behind. Opening the door to guests isn't an exemption; it's paving the road from 'play first' to 'register later'.
